Our story

Primal Pit Paste is back as Pretty Frank.

We started making deodorant over a decade ago under the name Primal Pit Paste. The idea was simple: a deodorant made from ingredients you could picture, that actually worked.

Today that same formula is sold as Pretty Frank. New name, same recipe. If you used Primal Pit Paste back then, this is the deodorant you remember.

The name is the promise. We are upfront about every ingredient we use and what it does, and we would rather tell you plainly than dress it up.

What's inside

A short list, and every ingredient has a job.

Turn the stick around and you will find ingredients you can picture. Here is what the main ones do.

Organic coconut oil In every formula. It moisturizes skin and gives the deodorant its smooth glide.
Organic shea butter In every stick and in our baking soda jars. It conditions underarm skin that deals with shaving and friction every day.
Organic arrowroot powder A fine starch from a tropical root. It absorbs moisture at the surface so you feel drier.
The odor fighter Baking soda in our extra strength formula. Magnesium hydroxide, usually with zinc oxide, in our baking soda free formula. They neutralize odor and keep odor-causing bacteria in check.
Essential oils Every scent comes from essential oils and plant extracts, listed on the label by name. Never synthetic fragrance. Unscented has none.
Activated charcoal In Charcoal Seaside sticks and our Unscented Charcoal jar. It helps with moisture and gives them their gray color.

Every scent is made with essential oils and plant extracts, and each one is listed on the label by name. Sticks come in Unscented plus seven scents. Jars and travel minis come in a smaller set. If you would rather have no scent at all, Unscented comes in both formulas.

Our deodorant is handcrafted in the USA with organic, food-grade ingredients. Keeping production close lets us check quality batch by batch.
